Looks like I'll be adding them "T" fittings
for the coolant lines near the firewall that appear to all be
failing
recently as well, since coolant is drained. Who made some
mention of
some coolant line that runs from turbo across front of engine
that we
should also be considering "while in there"? Any further
specificity
appreciated, I'm unfamiliar of such line.

Paulie,

Since my T fitting let loose I have been trying to source all
the plastic coolant bits to replace in an effort to avoid a
repeat performance;

These include the infamous T pipe, the L shaped plastic pipe
at the back of the engine, the heater control valve up by the
drivers (US) windshield wiper arm, and the T-stat housing (I
suppose the after run might qualify too).

Being a somewhat glutton for punishment, I thought that since
all my coolant was drained maybe I ought to replace all the
rubber coolant lines as well. This seemed particularly
appealing as I am about to head out on a 5 hour trip with da
wife and my 2 boys to WVa. All rubber coolant lines run
$445USD, that includes the bleeder thingy just upstream of the
heater control valve. There is one turbo coolant line that has
a crimp fitting where a rubber and hard line meet, that puppy
is $125USD. That one is on the turbo side, so I figure it's
been getting extra hot.

The line that you were asking about runs into the TBelt cover
as a hardline from the turbo side, when it gets to the drivers
side it takes a 90 degree turn to the rear of the car, just
under the fuel rail and coolant manifold is where it switches
from metal to rubber. Haven't measured it yet or had a good
look at it, but it seems to be a normal straight run, no funky
kinks.

I figure since I beat the hell out of it I should probably
play it safe.

These plastic bits could be dangerous. My local wrench was
working on his 5000 TQ avant when he just touched the after
run pump lightly with a tool. The plastic broke and sent hot
coolant all over one of his forearms. It looked nasty, like
raw hamburger. Makes me think twice about crawling under the
car after a track session.

Nuts -- these parts are expensive.
