Ok, well at least now there are options for those who don't want to diagnose
and replace individual coils/POS. I am considering the three pre-fab kits
out there, 034 1.8T kit, 034 HO kit, or the Apikol. It has been answered
recently that the standard 1.8T kit is good for RS2 power levels, but I
assume not much above? The difference in the 034 kits is $320, is it worth
it to get the upgraded kit if I eventually plan on slapping a 3071 or 30R on
the car in the future? Can you run the cover with the HO coils as it seems
the actual coil is on the firewall, not on top of the Plug.
I think that I would support Javad as long as they have stock, I know that
has been an issue lately. Apikol is more expensive for essentially the same
product so I probably won't go that route unless 034 puts me on a wait list
and then who knows if it's any different at Apikol.
I guess since I hate buying parts twice during an upgrade path the question
is should I go with the cheaper short term solution (standard 034) and see
if it holds up in a year or two when I go for big HP , or just bite the
bullet now and not worry about it later? I mean if I ever get 400hp ATW
I'll be happy as a pig in sh*t so if the 1.8T coil conversion can handle
that then that's the way I'll go and won't worry about spending the extra $$
on the HO version.
I am also concerned about the software issues for the GT turbos. It seems
that there is a serious lack of motronic tuners out there taking the
initiative on the 3071 or 30R, at least in my area of the mid-Atlantic :(
Thanks for any insight!
John
