I actually want to cut away the asphalt as it butts up to the garage bay
concrete "threshold". I know this will be much easier than cutting concrete
and I *really* do want to go that route but I just have too many things
right now do go the full monty route.
I want something quick, easy and cheap that will do for a bit knowing that
perhaps eventually something more permanent will take its' place.
Regards,
Mark
P.S. I have never met Joe so will leave it at that.

if you can source drain channel the width of the drive and can
accurately cut the concrect with a saw, you will have very little
concrete to deal with.
Home Depot/Lowe's both sell a "rolling mixer". it's a simple device:
container w/ lid that's roto-molded plastic with vanes built in. you
put a bag of of concrete inside, add some water and roll it on your
lawn. it's sealed with an o-ring. I've used one to mix/pour a 6'x3'
slab, 4 inches thick for a patio stair footer. (they're mostly used
for posthole anchor concrete)
