The WOT switch is in two sections one may be a pot as you suggest and
as would make sense. The other side is binary - open or closed -
depending on throttle position. IIRC, the switch changes state at
about 85% of WOT. The internals have been reported many times as
becoming corrodes and/or developing bad solder joints/cracks/etc with
age. There have also been numerous reports of opening the switch and
repairing same. Me? I'd just replace it if it doesn't work properly.
