OK, I think I figured it out. The driver installation had failed, it
seems to be working fine at my desk right now, I will try the car
later tonite. Instructions for installing the driver were at:

Thanks for the pointers fellas, I'll let you know how it goes. I'll
even have a beer or two if it works (who am I kidding, I'll have them
anyway!)
