A friend used to work for a rental / charter LearJet outfit here
in Columbus.  His job was electronics support and maintenance on
the planes.  He always wanted to take an old non-flight-certified
weather radar and mount it in a car ... for exactly that purpose.

He was concerned that it would probably fry the cop along with the
radar gun, so this never came off.

I love it.  Awesome.  Tho *highly illegal* obviously.  Emitting a radar
signal is, emitting a laser signal is not.  

Hmmm...  I just 10 minutes ago learned a buddy of mine here has a laser
gun.  Don't ask, but a damn funny idea was hatched.  Does have something
to do with "fightin da powah - Man's keepin me DOWN!".  Double standard
bastards.  Not had good luck here lately, I'm thrilled.  So I'm sure
further plan hatching will occur soon over many beers, and we'll be
recruiting volunteers for future mission.

All kidding aside (or not), I gave up on a better detector and
countermeasures years ago.  See the last bunch of mine had nothing to do
with radar or laser.  Fast 'looks' fast, period.  Hard to hold water
when fought, but they like to cramp your balls here wherever they can.
So, 2 more meetings it seems with the "drive as fast as I damn well
please" club moderators, and pay my annual membership dues to do so
(worth every second of it).  

Just less than they're currently trying to charge for subscription heh
heh...
