Man do you know what you are talking about.
I have suspenion problems, hesitation and bucking under boost, accelerator
pedal is, well, ... Half gone.
Can you provide the procedure to replace the ignigiton coils including
pictures. I have not idea wha these are. Same for the intercooler.
Cal
1. Suspension bits, such as tie rod ends and bushings. These get sloppy
at >100k miles.
2. Fuel pump.
3. The "Michelin Man" hose that runs from the intercooler to the
throttle body. This is by far the most common source of hesitation or
bucking under boost.
4. Your ignition coils, a.k.a. "POS." This is the second most common
cause of missing/hesitation/bucking under boost/WOT. Dave Forgie has
developed a great system to use less expensive parts from more modern
Audis to replace these components when the fail.
5. The vent fan and/or the "sampling fan" (under small vent in the
dash...monitors internal temperature). The vent fan is a major pain to
get out...do the heater core at the same time.
6. Your accelerator pedal. If you have a pedal that looks tiny compared
to other cars you've seen...that's not the pedal, it's what's left of
it. ;-)
Hope this gets you started...

It was done actually Taka,
There was an experiment about 20 years ago with some pretty heavy hitting
microwave gear.
Involved a bank of batteries, and a bank of capacitors, plus some pretty
heavy homemade torriodial transformers.
The end result remove part of the paint from the side of the cop car (no one
in it), and cooked a hot dog at the same time.
You could not fire back to back shots, it needed cooling and recharge time.
I suspect the article is around somewhere online, but I have never looked
for it.
It was pretty fun stuff.

Eric, I just had the luxury of replacing the return line.
Mine light was coming on intermittedly for a while, then one fine cold day
the return line split.
It's below the brake MC, and ducks behind the ABS pump.
My cost for the stealer 321 CAD.
It was a bitch to do, of course. Luckily being very cold up here that week,
my mechanic did it, and I just had to pay the bill.
You may want to look at that hose.

Mark,
LOL, well keep in mind I live in Michigan not Canada.
But as the Canadian cop said, having a radar detector in the car,
even if it's OFF violates their law and the seize it.
Hence the reason I want to have it hidden, for when I venture through
areas that outlaw radar detectors. That and it makes it harder to steal
what you can't see.
Chris
When they outlaw radar detectors, only outlaws will own radar
detectors!
They can have my radar detector when they pry it out of my cold dead
hands, that or when they pull me over and threaten to arrest me if I
dont hand it over! :-)

Back in the days when I worried more about radar ... when I drove a Porsche
and before I became a volunteer police officer :-)
I came up with the bright idea of building radar absorbing bra's
for the front of cars. Before you laugh too hard, this IS very
possible. I found a supplier of radar absorbant material which was
almost 1/2" thick, it was flexible like stiff foam, and it was about
$10 / Sq.ft. This was back in the mid '70s.
Now figure, you can't block off radiator air for front engined cars,
and the people interested in this will be the ones with real expensive,
fast, luxo-cars with a perfect finish. I was aiming at about a $300
price point at the retail level - this was when the best radar detector
was around $150.
The good news and the bad ...
Good news is that it would about halve the distance at which a cop
could get a reading on your car. This was determined with a made
up test bra on a VW Rabbit and using a sports time-your-baseballs
X band radar handgun. This probably could have been improved by
use of covers over the headlights and over other protrusions.
The bad news was that I couldn't find anyone that could/would make
bra's with the absorbant material - that looked half way decent and
that wouldn't scratch the paint of the luxo-cars whose owners might
buy such an item. Plus the few places that could have (maybe) done
the manufacturing wanted a price that would bave dictated a $500+
retail price tag.
So consequently, the whole thing sank beneath the waves but at least
I had a lower radar profile with my Porsche for a few years :-)

Thanks for all the help guys, I guess ill just put off changing the oil till
I get some filters from an online dealer, it doesn't really need to be
changed right away but I'm not sure what has been used before so I figured
I'd give it a fresh start with new oil and filter.
As for the keyless entry I opened up the key to discover there were no
batteries so that seems like a good place to start on that, haha.
Thanks again,

Hi Chuck,
Boy have you come to the right place. This list is the best car list
I've ever been on, with the Miata supercharger list being second.
FYI my UrS is a '93, Emerald Green with an ecru interior. I have 165k+
miles on the car.
I'll take a crack at a few of your questions, although I bet you get a
ton of replies.
1. The oil filters (and other consumeables, like air filters and such)
are quite hard to find at local auto parts stores. Although some of
these are shared amongst various VW/Audi models, they are still unusual
enough to not warrant inclusion in the stock of your favorite auto
supply chain store. I ended up buying filters at germanfilters.com.
Bear in mind that the Mann and Mahle filters are effectively
identical--I ordered Mann and they shipped me Mahle...but they are
interchangeable and I think they're actually made by the same company.
2. Keyless entry is a PITA on these cars. Mine still works, although not
well...it's infra-red after all, so the range is something like 6'. The
collective wisdom on the list is to convert the IR system to RF, which
has a lot longer range. Here's a an RF kit that is popular for this
task. There are various sites relating to the UrS cars that describe how
to patch this into our cars, but in general the guts you need are under
the rear seat. I'll do this once mine stops working--already the
passenger side IR receiver doesn't work, and I only have one key with
the IR transmitter. It's totally not worth it to fix the IR system.
http://www.commandocaralarms.com/itemdetails.asp?ProductID=1189
3. My oil pressure gauge does the same thing you are describing.
Here are some things that are going to break on your car: This is my
third Audi...believe me, I know what I am talking about...

And I use both a V1 and a CB. Both have their strengths.
