Taka,

I like your idea about changing the way your tail lights look.
A friend of mine has a 928 and installed a switch to disable his
tail lights in case of such an event, I don't like that idea because
now you are giving them yet another reason to pull you over as well as
putting yourself in a position to get rear ended.

Hmm can you provide more input on chaning the look of the tail lights?
Is it something as simple as a few relays in the trunk controlld by one
switch?
