Not to downplay the beauty of Forgie's coil swap, but the February
issue of Grassroots Motorsports may offer another option for
the coil swap. It has an article on a built-up Rabbit (bear with me)
that uses Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle coils. The Hayabusa revs
to 10.9K, so high revs shouldn't be a problem.

These units are small, light, and, as Jarod has since found,
work perfectly on the VW engine. To use them, he simply
fabricated short spaces that screw onto the tops of the
plugs and reach the shallow coils.

The ignition output signal is also Bosch standard, and drives
a four-channel ignitor module sourced from a late model Audi.

I wonder if that's the old POS?
