before i got the BFG g-force KDW, i would have agreed with you that
there's no such thing as a good all-season tire.  but i got a set in
225/50/16, and these tires don't give much away to the dunlop SP8000s
they replaced.  the traction in the snow was good enough to get
me up a steep hill in deep snow up to the bumper on an unplowed road,
and the car felt every bit as secure as my brother's saab 9-2x aero
did with blizzak LM10s.

the next day, i took a freeway ramp at 70+ mph at full throttle in 3rd gear.
i've never had tires that could do both so well.  it helps a lot that
these BFGs use the stiff carcass of the KD, which is a barely streetable
max perfomance tire.  a stiff sidewall goes a long way toward improving
steering response and cornering ability.

so while these tires don't have the ultimate grip of the BFG g-force KD
or snow traction of nokian winter tires, they have excellent steering
response and they've raised my expectations of high-performance 
all-season tires.  i've been driving to tahoe on these tires, and so 
far, the only time i've had any trouble was getting up a steep driveway 
covered with ice after stopping in the middle.  (backing up and getting 
some momentum got me up the driveway.)

i like the KDWs (both dry and wet performance) more than the 
contisportcontacts that are on the biturbo S4.  i haven't had a
chance to try the biturbo S4 in the snow, but these tires aren't M+S
rated and i really doubt they'll be better.
