[s-cars] CUMho's

Taka,
I gues my problem with the winter/summer tire deal here in Denver is that we
have such awesome days 90% of the time in the winter that it would KILL me
to be driving around on snow tires on those days...so I guess up until now I
have taken the approach of going gentle on those 10% days in the snow with
my Kumho ASXs and then enjoying them the other 90% of the time. Although
Conti has come out with some V-rated snows that I might be willing to
compromise and try.

No offense, but lift throttle oversteer isn't the tires' fault, it's yours
for lifting.
That said, everyone makes mistakes.
Best all season tires equates to the best "jack of all trades." That's not
saying much of anything.
If you're not averse to spending money for tires, get a proper set of winter
and summer tires, don't
buy all-season tires which are a compromise for the idiots who can't seem to
comprehend that you
shouldn't be driving on the same tires year round if you get cold weather
and snow in the winter and
hot weather in the summer.
Advan AD07 or Bridgestone RE-01R for summer, Nokian Hakka4/RSI/WR for winter
depending on how
severe your winter conditions.
245/40R17 is the proper size for an UrS running 17x8" wheels, that is the
factory optional size in RoW/non-US
markets.
255/40R17 is, strangely enough, the factory size for the C5 A6 4.2 and S6
Avant running 17x8" wheels, although it
is not within tire specification for any tire make or model that I can find.
Audi was running Continental Sport Contact 2
and Pirelli P6000 in these fitments.
I'll be running Falken RT-615 this summer because I'm cheap and poor. Next
best thing to the Advan and Bridgestones
I mentioned above.
