Actually you now have a perfectly useable 40mm
"extension" socket which won't help with the strut
removal :)
You need to weld a 40mm NUT onto one end of your
exhaust tube, as the stock strut cap has an internal
hex into which this nut would fit. You can cut the
socket and braze in the 1/2" drive part to the other
end of the tubing as you suggested.
