Ron,
I don't know what the "official" method is, what I have found is:
You need to undo 3 latches.
With the ecu sitting down on its back and you facing the ecu's plug
look to the left and right of the plug, you will see a black plastic
"finger" or "latch. I insert a small screwdriver behind each of these
pushing the "finger" towards the connector. Now go to the middle of the
socket, look at the top you will see a little "notch", insert a 3rd
screwdriver here lifting up slightly and you should be able to pull the
circuit board away from the socket.
