[s-cars] stalling

Correct, Cam Position Sensor will not stall the car, but it will prevent
the car from starting. If I remember correctly when it throws the code
it retards timing slightly, but the car will keep running, just don't
shut it off until you reach your destination (too bad you don't know
that when the check engine light comes on).
What about the ignition switch?

I thought the Cam Position Sensor threw the check engine light. VAG may
help
Thanks

Stefan,
I would guess cam position sensor.
Or
Could still be a disconnected intake hose.
