Boy you guys are lucky, in Canada we get hosed on
taxes and duties.
When
importing auto parts, we pay a duty of 8%, plus a
federal sales tax of
6%
and provincial sales tax of 7%, this is of course on
the Canadian
dollar
value.
The only time the duty does not apply if the part is
made in Mexico,
USA or
Canada or if its used.
So for a new part made in Germany, say $100 US, we pay
about $40 in
taxes
and duties.
