Bob,
Thanks for the dose of reality reminder. I think most of us who have been
around for a while realize our cars and other possessions are just a
pleasant diversion from the truly important things in life - family and
others we care about, and physical and mental health. For us S-men our cars
are hobbies but I believe we all need something like that for a "balanced"
existence. But again - thanks for the reminder. It reminds me of what
someone once told me - "if you could take your troubles to meet with others
to exchange troubles, you would likely be happy to come home with your own.
Example: Recently I was venting to a lady at the gym that my son had met a
girl from San Francisco in the bar and had decided to head down there, live
with her, and look for a job (as a Canadian, not easy to land a job). The
lady replied that her son was 42 years old, a life-time alcoholic, now
addicted to cocaine, with a son of his own that now had to live with them;
her daughter was in a car accident and is low-functioning due to a brain
injury; and her husband just had a heart attack. I felt a little silly and
very thankful.
Bob, trying to enjoy every day even with my S4 in winter storage.

Hi Y'all,
Just got back from my annual deer hunting trip. My wife greeted me
with the news. A neighbor and friend caught a virus, got dizzy from
it, fell on her neck and is now a quadriplegic. Another friend was
taken to the ER and, after being transferred to a major hospital, has
been diagnosed with bone cancer which has metastasized to her
heart. She is given two months. Another very close friend was found
to have a brain tumor about 5 months ago. She underwent gamma ray
surgery for the tumor. The surgeons says the surgery was successful
but she is still having spells of dizziness and is getting more MRI
evaluations. Meanwhile she is caring for her senile mother and her
semi-invalid husband.
No matter how aggravated we get at our Audis or how pleased we get
when something goes right remember that she's just a car and there
are a lot of other more important things out there. Be thankful for
what you have.
