[s-cars] S8 FS in NY - Price to good to be true?

generally, big luxury sedans depreciate badly in the US.  also, 
audi doesn't quite have the prestige of BMW or mercedes.  the smaller
cars (3er, A4, C-class) hold their value better than the larger
cars (7er, A8, S-class).  maybe people willing to buy used cars are
younger and looking for smaller and sportier cars, and the kind of
people who would buy a big sedan are inclined to buy new rather than used.

big luxury sedans tend to come loaded with gadgets that eventually
fail and reduce the reliability ratings.  it's not insurance premiums.
big luxury sedans usually are cheaper to insure than small sporty sedans,
because their drivers are generally more mature and less accident-prone.

for example,
take a look at this:

an '01 750iL, 70k miles, just out of CPO warranty, asking $24,900.  that's
$90k below its list price when new.

an '01 330i with similar stats would probably be asking around $20k.  that's
about $15k below its original price.

sounds like the germans should be importing used S8s back to germany.  :)
