Recent problem on a 95 S6 w/ 134k miles:
I am experiencing drivetrain vibration under
acceleration however I have noticed that it only
happens around 3-3500 rpm. I also noticed that while
parked and in neutral the engine vibrates at the same
rpm. I originally thought that the driveshaft needed
to be aligned or perhaps the center support bearing
was worn. I got under the car and there doesn't seem
to be any play on the driveshaft.
My theory now is that one of the engine or transmition
mounts is shot and the engine movement is affecting
the driveshaft balance.
The vibration comes from the center of the car hence
the original driveshaft diagnosis.
Any thoughts on the worn engine mount causing
vibration?
Thanks,
Aaron Ryba
