I had the same complaints about my 2B plates - I was ready to yank them and
try Igor's mod, or just put the factory plates back in.
I found an archived discussion about early 2B plates and emailed the guy
looking for advice. He said he had the same problem in one of his cars and
fixed his, and others.
Turns out he owns Klaus Euromotive in NH (http://www.klauseuromotive.com)
which is close to me. He currently owns 5 UrS cars, so I figured he had to
be nuts, but I gave him a shot.
They machined a custom washer to fit over the spherical bearing, under the
center nut. The impression I have is that some plates are great, they never
rattle. Other plates rattle from day one, so it's the luck of the draw. I
guess that explains why a bunch of us have complained about this, and others
that say theirs are quiet.
I had everything you guys are talking about - rattles on rippled roads,
parking lot noises, slip/stick clunks, yada yada. All is good now.
