would be that it is the bleeder valve for the charcoal canister system.
Part number 4A0 201 096. I'm assuming it's dealer only.
If the dealer is too pricey you may want to source one at a junk yard.
It's common to all NA market 100/A6/S4/S6, from '93-'97. The '90-'91
Coupe quattro also apparently used it.
