Speaking about transmission lubricants, I have acquired an EDU 6-speed to
install in my '95 S6. It is dry. What lubricant for this trans? I have
also been told that the heat shield that protects the passenger side axle
shaft will not transfer from the 5 speed to the 6 speed...comments, please.

Nooooo!

Cody, DO NOT use GL-5 rated gear oil in your Audi transmission!

Redline MT-90 or similar GL-4 ONLY rated gear oil is appropriate for your
transmission.

I can't say Amsoil is bad, but I would not use it in an Audi transmission
because of the
GL-5 rating. Maybe it's being overly conservative, but Audi factory oil is
GL-4 synthetic,
the G00 050 part number.

Mobil 1 gear oil is definitely NOT right for your car.

What's wrong with 75W90? That's fine for your rear diff, that one should be
GL-5.
