I don't like aluminum there for corrosion reasons, but like Matt says,
it's a replacement part.  The hats also get any stress mainly one
direction, and, if a hole cracks, the failure is unliky to be
catastrophic to the rest of the car.

Let's just say that the concern I feel for the brackets vastly
outweighs my concern for the hats.  :)
