Subject: Re: [s-cars] My S4
I know I will miss my car but as much, I will miss the community of
great guys who own these cars. I don't know what it is about the
community
that makes it so strong. Something to do with being a car enthusiast
without just going out and buying something off the showroom floor that
has
400 horsepower. I grew up in 50's and 60's when hotrodding was the
rage.
My first car was a '28 Ford that I bought when I was in grade 12. I
never
got very far in rodding it as I spent my time and money at university
but,
back then you wouldn't buy a rod from some factory - a hot rod was
something
you built. You would trade parts with friends and pick up stuff where
you
could. Forty years later and the group of "Audi friends" reminds me of
those good old times. My wife says that I will need to get a dog so
that I
will have at least one friend when my car is sold. I am especially
grateful
to you and Adam, and the Vancouver guys - Dave, Sean and Gabriel. Also
thanks to Fred Munro, James Murray, Elijah Allen, Robert Myers, Wayne
Dohnal, Igor Kessel, Keith Maddock and a host of others who have helped
me
with particular problems or supplying parts. This is sounding a little
hokey, like I'm accepting an Oscar so I'm going to quit.
Thanks,
Bob, possibly signing off for a while.>>>
Bob-
Hokey my arse! I say kudos for summing up some of the intangibles about
this group, these ("those" - still weird fer me) cars, and some of the
spirit associated with ownership / involvement.
Many sell and lurk etc. and I still have 'a' UrS car of er sorts so I'll
hang in da scenery I'm sure. So just surf the List archives via the net
or get the List via digest and comb briefly, occasionally. Me I've had
more laughs here and with many of this group doing 'shenanigans' than
most things in life can typically evoke - and that I applaud. Goes a
long way in life if you ask me. 5 years of you dolts already! Good
times.
Starting to see more of these go up FS which is I guess just reality /
passage of time occurring. I just saw my car crop up as owned in
another forum - weird. Also starting to see a lot of //S8's go up for
sale at the same time, guess it's like the 5 year cycle of things.
Considering they only imported 300 each of the 3 years it seems a bunch
have been popping up lately. 90k jitters my guess...
Been good "knowing" you Bob, good luck with the sale / future maybe
we'll see you here.
