Objet?: Re: [s-cars] S6 front control arms

i did remove the bolts completely. however, all i had
was a wrecking
bar
and i remember it wasn't big enough for the amount of
movement that
would
be required to separate the parts.

i decided it wasn't worth it just to replace the
balljoint boot (which
is actually from a 5000 but is supposed to fit,
perhaps with a bit of
persuasion). i'll replace the whole control arm when
the time comes.

Teddy, the dust boot for the 5k's are smaller. maybe
thats why you'r fighting with it.
The 5k, 200 10v dust boots are for 17mm ball joints.
The 200 20v, v8, Urs4//6 have a 19mm ball joint.

Who told you the 5k dust was "supposed to fit"?

& on getting the bolt & nut off the subframe part of
the control arm...a 17mm open end wrench & 17mm socket
& ratchet will make quick work of it.
Use a 5ft piece of pipe to leaver it ontop of the
control arm near the bottom of the CA & up under the
subframe & puuuush..or stand to pop the ball joint out
of the strut housing. & of course take the pinch nut &
bolt out 1st...& the sway bar nut...& the sway bar
brackets...oh & popping the tierod end is helpfull as
well.

 Thanx
Ron
