[s-cars] ran an E60 ///M5 yesterday - meh...

Before I start, I'm not claiming my K24'd UrS is faster than a 500hp V10
///M5. However, this was a most interesting data point. I was not
impressed.
Commuting home yesterday, I went by one on the right and didn't think
much of it as I don't really play with idiots on the road much anymore.
I later see him make his way up to be behind me. New left lane opens,
I'm in 4th @ 4k powerband and make the lane change and mat it as I
normally do in that spot. He's behind me but doesn't "bite" at my bait
immediately and I figure him gone. As I slow to the car in front, he is
coming on quickly. He then tries to make some really dumb moves to go
around me and is stuck and tucks back in. Apparently his turban is too
tight to make good lane choices.
Finally he goes by me by cutting a handful of people off, and is stuck
behind another car in front (result of another dumb move). I patiently
await the cars to move and I'm behind him, again trolling in 4th,
awaiting the inevitable dual. Car in front of him peels off, 4 pipes
puff a poof of grey and he starts off. I'm having NOoooo trouble
keeping up with him, cars are basically even through all of 4th into
5th. As I'm topping 5th toward the redzone he is *finally* starting to
gain on me slightly, but as I nail 6th I've stopped his gain and am
maintaining, again no problem. He must have lifted toward the higher
digits as his sac shriveled up inside as I finally reeled him in.
This same pattern occurs 2-3 more times, and in process he's making
dumber and dumber moves in attempt to shake me. He is very obviously
trying his damnest, I can see and smell it - much quieter than I'd like
that car to be though. I have a few spots where he makes yet again
another dumb move and I could get by, but am reaaaaaallly enjoying
looking down @ my 162k odometer in my 11 year old jalopy, chuckling at
how !@#$%^& frustrated he must be in his $90k car unable to make any
real progress on me. I figure why pass him, I'm not going to pull on
him, and sitting back here embarrassing him is FUN.
Finally I exit, amazed, bewildered.
I later trade notes with my buddy, he says he had similar experience in
his E500 Euro Limited. Guess 505hp is good off the line but after 300
something horse we're just splitting hairs in real world situations.
Also maybe the dude wasn't optimizing his shifts or driving the car to
it's best, as evidenced by his pisspoor lane choices.
ANYwho, chew that one up a bit. Usually I chalk those experiences up to
people not trying or having sac, but when you can see & smell the
effort, you know it's balls to the wall. Go figure. I'm sure they rip
and put down impressive #'s on paper, but, WTF...
