The additive package is based on the difference between the cold/hot
weights. The greater the difference, the more additives. A 10W-40
would have have (about) the same amount of additives as a 20W-50 (both
30 points apart). Having said that, this only applies to dino, not
synthetic.

Not to steal the thread but I do not understand why Amsoil would be
chosen over something like Mobil1. I just have this hang up with the
whole Amway thing. How good these guys possibly make an oil as good as
a multi-million dollar oil company?

The recommendations are, unsurprisingly, the Euro 5W40, Series 2000 0W30 or 20W50, and the 10W40 HP Synthetic. Disregarding the lighter weights and the extra costs of the Series 2000 oils, that leaves the 10W40, which is a weight that I've avoided in the past, as it has beeen said to have the optimum proeprties tend to degrade faster in that blend due to the additive packages used (old data, maybe dino and no longer valid?). Anyway, I've always run 20W50, 15W50 or 5W50 oils in the S6's and urq (for which they recommend the 0W20...never going to happen!).
