I drove an S8 yesterday - 2003 - 25K miles. Not happy with the seats - no
support. Torque is intoxicating, but I missed the boost kick. No way it
handles as well as my urS6 - but very impressive for a big car. I've been seriously
looking for a 2002 S6 - is there really an advantage with the S8? Seems the
S6 would be lighter, same engine, trans, etc. 20hp less really does not
mean that much, especially since I would chip it anyway.

Our local dealer just took in an RS6, sold immediately for - $60K - I guess
I will have to wait a long time for one of these...

Well OK, but now that makes me feel stupid for letting that beauty go for
$19K yesterday :)

But what about the transmissions? Last time I really looked at these cars
(couple years ago, and it was an A8 actually) it seemed like people were
having problems?
