Buy it direct from Valentine.
Ebay is where you want to sell your V1, not buy it. Too many idiots on Ebay driving the prices up to nonsensical levels. As you noted, some sell for as much as a new one direct from Valentine. Any of the latest versions will certainly be in the $350-$400 range.
Hell, I was seeing remote displays that sell for $40 from Valentine go for $80-$100 on Ebay. And this wasn't a one time thing. I saw at least half a dozen go for that price over a couple month period that I was looking.
If you have an older one that you're thinking of upgrading to the latest version it will be cheaper to sell your old one on Ebay and buy a new one from Valentine rather than pay the upgrade charge from Valentine. I sold my V1.7 for $325. So my upgrade path only cost me $75 instead of the $200 Valentine wanted.
