Yeah, I'd tend to agree.  "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is often a good policy.  If you're using that little oil, I wouldn't get spun up about it.  Since you're not consuming much, you might to look into the crankcase ventilation system.  You may be sucking some oil in that way.  It also may be worth a good cleanup of the intake tract... flush out the IC, and clean the x-over and x-over to IC hoses.  They can tend to get pretty loaded up with oil.

1 qt per 3000 miles is acceptable as oil consumption. I would do nothing
about it except keeping it topped up.
