[s-cars] So my car is burning oil?

2nd that.
I had a car that was still covered under the drivetrain warrenty and was told they wouldn't do anything if consumption was less then 1L/1000Km.
They changed the oil and put paint across the drain and the filter to ensure it was not tampered with and sent me on my way. I drove home wedged a pipe between the accelerator and the seat (~3000rpm) and went and mowed the lawn.
Needless to say, they replaced the engine.
BTW - that was a GMC Tracker with 59,000Km when I was 19.

1 qt per 3000 miles is acceptable as oil consumption. I would do nothing
about it except keeping it topped up.
