On the S6, I think it might be under the back seat on the passenger side, but
I haven't looked at the boxes in there closely enough to know for sure.
FYI, I just replaced the battery on my 1995.5's RF remote fob earlier this
week. It takes a single CR2032 lithium battery. The old battery tested just
under 3.00 volts; the new one tested at 3.29 volts. Range improved nicely
(from 5 feet to 20 feet at best), but range is significantly longer from the
side than from the front.
Reprogramming directions are online somewhere (pretty simple -- put one key in
the ignition, turn ignition to On, lock car with a second key, and hold down
both buttons on the remote for a few seconds); sadly, they are not in the
manual, because my car came with a 1995 manual, which is worthless for the
1996 cars for things like the remotes. I have an Avant supplement but no 1996
supplement.
Please let us know if you have any luck with the switchblade conversion with a
later-model RF receiver.
