Funny, I never thought for a second what these guys were doing to the
1.8/2.0 cars would last Taka. I have yet to see a failure from one (heard about a
couple, but usually hiccup related, not parts failure related). By coil
overs, I think linear rate springs on the A4 make it too bouncy, and the helper
springs just take away from the length of travel that I prefer in quattros.
Coil overs travel to bind is tough to make a good street ride AND a good track
ride IMO. If you get a good track ride, you won't get a good street ride.
And a good street ride just aluded me, and I spent some time on rates. I
like a progressive spring (in front anyhow) that's a little softer, then bar
the car to get the handling. The stiffness of the A4 chassis with
reinforcement really makes this a great dual setup.

How is reliability with a 300-350hp A4 1.8T? Head gasket failure? Oil leaks?
 Transmission or diff failure?

Why do you say coilovers take away the forgiving nature of the chassis? I
don't see how a shock/spring combo is really any different in function- the
valving and spring rate are the only differences. Or are you talking about a
specific coilover setup?

How are you getting 300hp out of a k04?

Taka
