I'm installing an updated rear main crank oil seal on an urS4 I'm
working on (the one with the TDC sensor pickup knocked off of the
flywheel miss piggy style).

The new seal comes with the seal housing, which now has an impregnated
rubber seal instead of using a paper gasket between itself and the
engine block. I can't seem to find any info about it, specifically I'm
looking for any out of the ordinary precaustions or special sealants
that may be recomended. I'm thinking that I should install it with no
sealant, and that I need to be extra careful about getting the paper
gasket off of the block.

Any input?

Oh and BTW, the piece that removed itself from the flywheel has indeed
been confirmed as the pickup for the TDC sensor, not a weight as some
here suggested. It seems that it's made of a special alloy that makes
the VR sensor react better, which is why it is not welded to the FW,
but peened on.
