Fitting sizes on the quick disconnects are different between R12 and R134,
as far as servicing equipment goes, but adapters can be had and are not car
specific. The thread size on the car likely remained unchanged. Note that
not all S4's are R12. R12 was phased out in the 93 iirc. 1992 S4s should
be R12. The condenser is a dead give away (aside from reading the sticker
on the hood). R12 isn't square, the top is taller in the middle than on the
side, often described as looking like a mountain. The R134 ones are squared
off and flimsy thin.

Most of us on this site were looking for a way to adapt the R12 system
cowl port to a small can refill. Will this adapter work for R12 in the
92 to 94 cars?
