You guys are having such a good time I -almost- hate to chime in.
Yup, Dinan is way expensive, but no one questions the engineering skill.
Dinan headers for a V8 about 10X for a C6 Vette, and more than double
its nearest competitor, Supersprint. But, there is no shortage of
customers lining up for all kinds of upgrades, newest is the E60 V10
reworked to 628 crank hp from around 507 advertised. $40k, plus labor,
plus about $5k worth of additional throttle bodies and bigger MAF
housings, PLUS your motor sent back. Value judgment, your call.
There is no "factory" warrantee from Dinan, Dinan matches or mirrors the
factory warranty. So if you take your car to a dual BMW/Dinan facility
for a warranty issue, the background fighting over who pays generally
goes unnoticed by the customer. Dinan is terminating those relationships
in large part because of BMW's new in house "performance" line of
products, which seem to be mostly wheels, cat back, and some headers.
Aimed at the newer cars, and the older E46.
Stock 335i 0-60 is NOT 4.5. Generally around 5.0 (not too shabby). But
with a couple of tuners piggyback software for less than $1000, you can
get that number. There is Vishnu Procede and a similar one from Active
Autoworks I think they are calling it Xcede). A real sleeper for the
money (at least when the dealer markup dries up).
Anyone still talking about Audi's??? LOL My 200tqa is back on the road
thanks to help from this board, including as usual, SJM and Force 5!
Regards,
Jerry
