[s-cars] phenolic spacers

I was rumaging around the list archives and i happen to come by the
topic of phenolic spacers.  Did anybody every actually try to get some
produced to fit our car, and if so was there any testing done to see
if an improvement actually occured.  By testing I mean more then a
hand on the IM/inter-cooler or a butt-dyno testing?
