[s-cars] stereo upgrade

In actuality, you can run Bose speakers with after aftermarket amps,
provided they high end or 1 ohm stable amps. As for keeping the radio info
in the IC, good luck finding that unit, as those were Blaupunkt units and I
don't believe you can find any new Blaupunkt unit with the same interface.
If you were to find maybe an older aftermarket unit, it won't have any good
features that newer radios have. As for using an aftermarket headunit on
Bose, I use high/low convertors. If you try using the Metra RCA adapter kit
only, you'll get the pop noise when you change stations or modes in your
radio. You don't get that with the high/low convertors on speaker lead
inputs. I currently run an Alpine unit on stock Bose system in my 93 S4 with
high/low convertors, and I just finished running my 95 A6 Non-Bose, with
Alpine headunit direct to speakers on front and RCA to rear speaker (Active
system) with an installed Bose Avant subwoofer on high/low convertor on rear
speaker leads. System in the Avant sounds great. Almost as good as Audi Q7,
but with less bass since it has smaller speakers.
