[s-cars] Belly pan blues (95 S6A)

After the first time that I had to take it off and put it on to change the
oil, it never went back on again. That was 83k miles ago...and I live in
the Denver area as well. The only adverse thing that I know of that is
quantifiable is that you don't get very good cooling from the intercooler
with it off, lose a little power. I have been meaning to make a sheet of
sheet metal that just covers up the intercooler area but I just haven't
gotten around to it yet.

Well, I had a belly pan. But it must have gotten ripped right off the car by
some of the deep, icy ruts we have here in Colorado. Ya woulda thunk that I
would have noticed some sort of sound, but, nope. Gotta turn down the tunes,
I suppose.

It will be easier to change the oil this weekend with the bastard already
torn off, but I'd like to replace it.

First, though, any problems if I don't? (aside from the obvious dirt and
other junk spraying up into the engine compartment) I've got a bunch of
travel coming up and there's no way to deal with it immediately. No time at
all. . .

And, what might I expect to pay for such an important part? I suppose that
similar year A6's will be the same (like 95s and 96s?). Me thinks that it
will be easier for me to source a used one from an A6 in these parts.

And, if you live in these parts, (Colorado front range/I-70 corridor to
Aspen) and have a used one, whatcha want for it?

Thanks in advance, all.

Tom
