[s-cars] alternator woes?

mine died and stranded me on the freeway. i didn't get the low voltage
warning light until i was beginning to cross the san mateo bridge, and
barely made it to the other side before the car stopped running.

i bought a replacement at NAPA auto parts for about $35. it didn't
look much like the original, but it was the right size in all the critical
dimensions, and the car runs fine now. replacement was simple, and i
didn't even have to remove the alternator.
