So you are consitently towing with a V-6 Astro Van? These trannies aren't
the best in just hauling the van around, although they have gotten better
since the 90's when the failure rate was about 100%, much less anything more
than the van. I think you have a couple of options:
1. Buy the cheapest rebuild you could put in it and sell it and if you need
a van get a fullsize van with a 4L80E transmission that can handle the
towing duty or
2. Buy a specially rebuilt transmission with heavy duty parts. Here is a
link to something like that below:

I don't know if this will work in mini-van applications or if your van is
4WD if it will work, but you could always call and ask.
Did you run a cooler on the transmission? That would probably help a great
deal if you didn't.

I have a work truck (2002 Chevy Astro) that has a whole 75,000 KM on it.
My employee just called me to say that the transmission failed... no more
reverse.
It's a whole 15,000 KM out of warranty....
I suspect yall can tell I am none to happy....
What should I do, bring it to the dealer and prepare for war, or just take
it to a transmission place and take my lumps for buying GM crap... God I
wish Audi made a work truck :-)
Thanks for any suggestions
Mark S
(maybe it got stolen, and burned up in a fire... yeah that's it)
