[s-cars] An interesting thought experiment...

If your software is matched with your injector size, you can throw a wide variety of turbos on the engine and achieve good results. I have run a bunch of different turbos with the hybrid RS2 software that Steve Eiche/Bob Patore have, and all had good results. The results were confirmed both on the dyno, and using a wideband O2 sensor monitoring A/F ratios.
The largest turbo I used with the RS2 software was a GT30R (3076), and it worked fine. I have also tested the T04E 46 trim, the T04E 50 trim, the T04E 57 trim, and the GT3071R. All performed very well.
HTH,
Dave

Subject: [s-cars] An interesting thought experiment...
I may have a line on a relatively inexpensive RS2 EM. Relative to new, that is.
I have, currently, Bosch green tops sitting in my Rossatobin, and I
can see myself getting ahold of a used RS2 turbo some time, OR buying
something that is similar from 034EFI. My goal is to NOT have to
rebuild the top or bottom end with stronger parts - just go with the
stock long block that came with the car! :)
I have MRC Stage 2 software, and I am ASSuming that if I got the RS2
s/w from them, I'd be doing OK if I put on the RS2 turbo/EM/injectors.
No more mods required (maybe desired, but not required.) But the
sticky part is this: what if I went with one of Javad's hybrid
offerings? Like the TO4E/K26? where would my software be then? MRC
in the U.S. is great for off-the-shelf packages, but when you start
throwing custom stuff their way, it could be tough for the European
guys to make timely tuning adjustments to the s/w. Since I'm not a
whiz at reading compressor maps, what 034EFI offering is going to be
close enough to RS2 to make the s/w work and not put big, ol' holes in
my block or pistons?
Am I going to have to go out looking for custom software for this
beast? Like from IA? The hardware part seems relatively simple if
I'm not going to go above about 380-400 crank HP. But the s/w makes
me nervous, a little. BTW, I am in the middle of nowhere, so it's got
to be Motronic-based, and should be a bit conservative as far a A/F
ratios go (leans rich, not leans lean, if you catch my drift.)
:)
Thanks, guys,
Eric.
