[s-cars] Alternator Issues

yes, it definitely could. the car will run fine until the battery voltage
drops. same thing happened to me. car was running fine as i approached
a bridge, and then warning lights went on as i drove across the bridge. i
turned off wipers, headlights, radio, etc. and barely made it across before
the car stopped running.
my brushes looked just like yours. i got a replacement voltage regulator
assembly from NAPA and everything is fine now.
the replacement didn't look much like the original part, but the critical
dimensions were all the same, and it was $35 and available immediately.
