[s-cars] argh...first the brake servo, now the rack...

Peter,

I went through this last summer. Fred Munro provided a test process
for the servo. You can find the thread by searching the archives for
"thrumming" in the subject line. I did a write-up on how to R&R the
servo. Darrin said he would host it on S-cars.org and I can send you
a copy if it is not there.

Fred's test involved a short piece of metric brake line (bought an 8"
section at my local FLAPS along with a tube bending tool). Bend it so
that you can attache it to the return line port on the servo (clamp
off the rubber return line hose before disconnecting the line).
Attach a piece of plastic tubing to the other end of your short brake
line. Run the free end of the tubing into a jar. Start the engine.
Keep your foot off the brake. If you have hydraulic fluid running out
of the return port, through the tubing, into the jar, your servo is
toast.
