[s-cars] Paint job pricing

Does anyone have pricing for a paint job for a C4 bodied S4/6?
I know  there are many different quality levels of paint jobs.
I am looking for an estimate for a middle of the road quality job, complete car, factory dark green color.
I recently went to a trusted collision repair shop who referred me to a small paint shop down here in SC and I was quoted $1000. This includes complete sanding and about 1 coat primer, 3 coats paint and 2-3 coats clearcoat. All trim would be masked off (although I would remove most of it myself instead).

This is a bit cheaper than I expected. Now I am wondering if it is a bargain or just a setup for a crappy paint job. The other vehicles in his shop (a new turbo beetle, and some old restored mustangs) looked good and the shop looked professional.
