[s-cars] Woah- me too!

For another Data Point, I too had the ECS Stage 2 kit, and my brackets cracked, probably about 1 year ago. They had been mounted for 2-3 years and had seen about 4-6 driver school events. I remember when the kit first arrived, the bolts were too long, so I had to send them back.

I also moved on to the steel RS2 brackets with a8/s8 rotors.

Now onto pads:

I think, unfortunately, results vary a bit and you may need to see what works for you, as it may not have worked well for others.

The ECS kit came with HAWK HPS pads, that for me squealed like a stuck pig. I tried all sorts of things but to no avail. Other listers chimed in and had no noise problems with their Hawks on the ECS kit. At the suggestion of a few listers I tried the OEM Porsche Textar pads--they helped quite a bit in the noise department. They still squealed a little, but now where near as bad as the Hawks.

Now with the RS2 brackets I still run the Textar Pads and they are almost always quiet, no where near what I was experiencing with the ECS brackets. They have some dust, but that's why I went to gunmetal grey rims.

I too have the new ECS brackets in my Rossatobin, along with new Tirerack firesale rotors that were reported to work with the ECS brackets.

Good luck.

Matt:

I see you have 993tt rotors too. The downside to using the S8 rotors are
they are 2 mm thinner (32 vs 30), therefore the rotor will be 1 mm off
center. Actually, its not a big deal, but you will get uneven pad wear.

Also, IME, the S8 rotors / 993tt calipers squeal like a pig even with
copious anti-squeal compound.

With the 993tt rings and 993tt calipers they are silent as a mouse.
