Best to rent at the same place you want to leave the car - airport?  The
convenience will be worth many $ for a short trip.  I suppose you mean
which company?
Can't Frederick L'Huillier and the French Audi Club squire you around  
in the S6+ ?
Or, at least, give you the best referrals.  :-)
Otherwise, the only advice I have is make the reservation from the  
US.  The
prices are almost always half of the walk-up rental in europe.  Take  
a portable
GPS or rent one to best navigate the poorly marked secondary roads if  
you
plan to get off the beaten path.
