Dave, Steve,
Thanks for clearing that up - it seems I'm always finding some strange thing
about these cars, or are these more common than I know? But Dave, I don't
know why you had to bring my mother-in-law into the discussion.
Bob, biased and hanging loose

Subject: [s-cars] Mystery spring
Bob: My guess its the spring for the brake bias adjuster. The idea is
as the car has more weight in the back, the rear can handle more brake
bias. There should be a lever arm as well as the spring. I think the
spring returns the lever arm back to its normal position after you drop
off your "big boned" passengers.
Bottom line: It should be attached to the brake bias adjustment
mechansim, not hanging loose. You, you can hang loose, your spring,
no.
