I immagine metro Austie-land is much like metro Asia, they are pretty close. I was in AU a while ago, I wouldn't doubt the system has changed. It certainly would be nice if some metro US cities took a lesson from our more advanced counterparts.

Traveling with sctuff is certainly a drawback. I tried walking up and down some hills toting waaaay too much luggage from the hotel to the main depot and it just didn't work out. Fortunately I was in Sydney rather then your given US destination and some onlooking locals were very glad to help out (and they didn't even take my stuff!).
