While I wouldn't want to experience the worst of rush hour in Tokyo on a
daily basis (BTDT), the ability to
take the train into town and all around is very appealing to me. Except when
I want to drive or need to haul stuff, I could leave the car at home.

I'd be in a lot better physical shape as a result as well- people don't
think too much about walking 1-3km to go somewhere. That's driving distance
for most Americans.
