I was going to mention the fact that the 4-runner does have a torsen center

Even better with the 93-97 FZJ80 Landcruiser chassis Taka, with ABS, you
get
a VC center *with* an electric locker over the center diff. I'll also note
that the 4 runner and the new FJ both use torsen center WITH locking
ability.
The 80 sports full floating solid axles, and it rides better than most
independent front axle trucks. Add 4 piston front calipers from the
factory, and
a silky 4.5L DOHC I6, it's a good ride. Add the TRD supercharger, it's
just
a hoot
You can't get the HDJ80 (FJ 80 with diesel and manual) for the states, but
the locking front center and rear diff option was available on the gas 80 as
well (I don't have it myself, don't think it needs it). MLP can give you
the
perspective of the 80 with blizzacks and supercharger at Steamboat. Mother
of Miss Piggy, it could chase any quattro down at Steamboat without missing
the audio portion of the LT1Q chase video.
Manual shifting awd trucks have given way to much beefier autoboxes, sport
shift mode and 6spd autos. I know sport mode in my truck will take you
right
to redline and bang the next gear without neck snapping between shifts.
